The Charity

Phab's aim is to promote and encourage people of all abilities to come together on equal terms, to achieve complete inclusion within the wider community. Phab celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2007, having been established in 1957.

What Phab Does

Phab creates opportunities for children and adults of all abilities to enjoy life together by …
  • Supporting a network of around 180 clubs throughout England and Wales for all age-ranges, offering activities and holidays which members can share and enjoy together.
  • Promoting and encouraging self-confidence and independence in young people of all abilities through a range of diverse projects.
  • Funding special residential breaks – inclusive experiences for disabled and non-disabled children and young people to share in a full range of adventurous outdoor activities at fully accessible activity centres offering specialist tuition.
  • Providing specially equipped and fully accessible holiday units at an award-winning beach site in Dorset at affordable weekly rates.
  • Organising national and regional events for Phab club members and supporters to enjoy together and to promote the Phab philosophy of inclusion.

Phab has received a very generous grant of £5,000 from the Santander Foundation’s Community Plus Initiative to help fund our Residential Projects Programme this year.  This much appreciated grant will make a real difference to the number of places that Phab is able to provide for children and young people with disabilities on these very special, challenging and fun Projects at fully accessible outdoor activity centres in the Lake District, Derbyshire and the New Forest.

Guy's Alternative Marathon Day Following the near-fatal accident in January which put paid to Guy's ambition to run in the Phabkids team in last Sunday's VMLM and, after a long spell in hospital with multiple injuries, he was determined to celebrate his incredible recovery by marking Race Day with his own challenge. Many congratulations to Guy Watt and all the family members and friends who supported him on Sunday and especially his daughter Bronte who also took part in the "Alternative Marathon" event organised by Guy and personally raised £100 in sponsorship for Phabkids. Over 60 of his family members and friends joined him at the Draycote Reservoir, Dunchurch to walk or run the 5 mile circuit. Determined to take part either in a wheelchair or on foot, Guy in fact managed to complete the circuit without the assistance of a wheelchair. Thank you Guy for your huge personal achievement and your very special support of the Charity. We look forward to seeing you in a Phabkids running vest next year. You can still sponsor Guy in support of his fundraising for Phab and Phabkids by visiting his sponsorship page at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=GuyWatt.
