Two Incredible Groups, One Unforgettable Phab Experience
“It’s been an action-packed few weeks at Phab, and we’re thrilled to share the highlights from two exciting adventures that truly embody our belief that adventure is for everyone.
First, we welcomed an incredible group of 17 young carers aged 9 and 10 years from CHUMS. They travelled by coach from Luton and joined us for a week of fun at Bendrigg Lodge in Cumbria, and we packed the schedule with adventure and creativity. From canoeing, rock climbing, and archery to arts and crafts, music, orienteering, and zip wiring – this was a week full of firsts, fun, and freedom.

One of the major highlights was caving at Ribble Head in the Yorkshire Dales. Our courageous young explorers grabbed their torches and helmets and ventured deep underground, taking on new challenges and emerging muddy, proud, and smiling from ear to ear.
For many young carers, time away like this offers a rare chance to focus on themselves – to build confidence, make friends, and just be children. We feel incredibly lucky to play a part in that.
As one child said, “When I first came, I was nervous but also excited at the same time. But I started to make new friends, and we always had fun”

And the excitement didn’t stop there! A few weeks later a fantastic group of 28 adults from across the UK for a four-day inclusive adventure holiday. From canoeing and rock climbing to abseiling, zip wiring, cycling, and orienteering – you name it, we did it!
Each day brought fresh challenges, plenty of laughter, and some seriously impressive teamwork. In the evenings, we gathered around the campfire to share stories, toast marshmallows, make music, and reflect on the day’s triumphs. The week wrapped up with a lively celebration, full of dancing, joy, and newly formed friendships.

This wasn’t just a holiday; it was a powerful reminder that outdoor adventure is a space where everyone belongs, and where confidence, connection, and community can thrive.
During our end of week celebration, one person said, “I am so proud of how independent I was and I really enjoyed spending time with new people.”

We can’t wait to share more from our next Phab Adventures – but one thing’s already clear: unforgettable memories have been made.
Thank you to everyone who makes these experiences possible. Whether you’re a supporter, volunteer, staff member, or participant – you’re helping to prove, time and again, that adventure is for everyone.”
