I think we’ve peaked…
On the 10th May, we had our second ever Phab Skiing Day!
Back in 2024, we had our first-ever ski day at the Chill Factore in Manchester, and it was fantastic! We were keen to replicate the same at an event down in the South, so 8 months later, we were off to The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead!

Over 40 Phab Club members joined us for sessions of real snow skiing, with members coming from Epsom and Ewell Phab, Wiltshire 16-40 Phab, Phab Friends Worthing, Hounslow Phab, Uckfield Phab, Radlett Phab, Bancroft’s Phab, KAOS Phab, and the Me2 Club.

We had 9 people using sit skis, and 32 in small standing group lessons, with friends, carers, and family watching and cheering on from the balcony or the warmth of The Lodge Bar.
Whilst almost everyone was new to skiing, everybody managed to get some speed going, and with only a few small falls too!
A few of our skiers shared:
“At the start, it can be a bit scary if you’ve never done it, but it was so fun!”
“First time skiing, just about managed to go down the slope, went into one person… and a wall… but I didn’t fall over!”
“The instructors were really attentive, they took time to learn how the boys communicate, how best to position them and were really really good”

A huge thank you to the incredible Instructor team from Disability Snowsport UK, the Phabulous Marie & Nick, for supporting the day and to our Phab Trustee Natalie Osborne for getting stuck in with the video.
