“For twenty days in August, the stunning New Forest in Hampshire and the breathtaking Lake District buzzed with laughter, excitement, and the spirit of adventure! During our Phab Residential Adventures, over 160 children, families, adults and volunteers dove into unforgettable experiences full of fun, friendship, and discovery at two fantastic outdoor centres: Avon Tyrrell and Bendrigg Lodge.
For two separate action-packed weeklong Adventures, everyone dived in at every turn. Canoeing across sparkling waters, climbing to new heights, and aiming arrows in archery were just the beginning. They also tried paddleboarding, tested their navigation skills with orienteering, learned bushcraft, zoomed down zipwires, enjoyed fish and chips at the seaside and explored the great outdoors in countless ways. Every moment was filled with laughter, teamwork, and the joy of discovering new skills, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

For the adults’ long weekend, the spirit of adventure was just as alive and between challenges, there were moments to relax, connect, and enjoy the stunning surroundings of the forest, creating the perfect balance of excitement and downtime. Evenings sparkled with music and dancing, giving everyone a chance to unwind and celebrate their achievements. By the end of the weekend, new friendships had been forged, skills had been mastered, and everyone left feeling inspired and refreshed.
What made all these Phab Adventures truly special wasn’t just the activities, it was the atmosphere. Supportive, joyful, and full of encouragement, our Phab Adventures created friendships, boosted confidence, and allowed everyone to celebrate their successes. From first-time adventurers to familiar faces, everyone left with happy memories and stories to share.

Some of our favourite quotes shared:
“Phab feels like a bubble in which the differences in our family no longer cause us limits. Phab makes us feel like we belong and that everyone understands our needs. This week has been enriching for all our lives. A priceless experience.”
“We have been able to relax and take a step back allowing Stephen to develop his independence. We have NEVER felt so totally included as a family – this has been one of the best experiences we have ever had.”
“I’ve never volunteered before, but this experience has been wonderful, and it has definitely wetted my appetite to do it again.”

None of this would have been possible without our incredible Phab volunteers, whose energy, kindness, and dedication shone throughout every moment. They gave their time freely to support activities, encourage everyone to have a go, and help create the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes these adventures so special.
With so many achievements and friendships made this summer, we can’t wait to see what incredible moments next year will bring when we return!”
