From the 16th–19th February, we welcomed nineteen young carers from our charity partner, CHUMS – the Luton-based charity providing mental health and emotional wellbeing Services that supports children, young people and their families – for our first Adventure of 2026!
For these young carers, the Adventure offered a rare chance to step away from their daily routines, enjoy time outdoors, and connect with others who understand their experiences.
The group, aged 10–12, travelled from Luton to Bendrigg Lodge in the Lake District; one of our two regular Phab Adventure locations, and packed an impressive amount into just a few days! Everyone tried abseiling, climbing, caving, zip wire, biking, sports sessions, the tube slide, and plenty of roaming (and mud collecting!) around the grounds.
In the evenings, the group gathered in the yurt for a campfire and marshmallows, or headed back to their accommodation to dry off, warm up and recharge for the next day.

The energy throughout the week was incredible. Whether they were helping each other on the climbing wall, cheering friends on during activities, or laughing their way through the caving system (including wading through very cold water!), the whole experience felt very special from start to finish.
Our Phab Project Leader, Rebecca, summed it up perfectly:
“It was an absolute pleasure to welcome such a fantastic group of children to our latest Phab Adventure. Their enthusiasm shone through in every activity – they made new friends, encouraged one another, and gave everything a go. It was also great to be working once again alongside the brilliant teams at CHUMS and Bendrigg Lodge. Their support and teamwork make such a difference.”

Our partnership with CHUMS goes from strength to strength each year, and we’re proud to offer not just residential Adventures together, but Adventure Days too, including flying, skiing and more to come throughout the year.
With this first week setting the tone, we’re excited for everything to come this summer! Applications are currently open to children, young people, adults, families and volunteers… but be quick, they’ll be closing soon! You can find all the details below.
